Together with Studio Multi, we participated in 2 days of ‘Design Charette’- a paid competitive research event- to explore potential ideas for a flexible 250,000 sqft Passivhaus building comprising offices, life sciences laboratories, seminar space, maker space and cycle facilities. A community canteen connects to an urban farm at roof level. The hybrid structure combines tree trunk columns and CLT slabs with alternate concrete floors to reduce embodied carbon. An active facade controls solar heat gain. Peter Barber and Architecture 00 chosen for key St Pancras Hospital projects (architectsjournal.co.uk)
